OCMU Officers Election Meeting – March 9, 2020
Welcome: Meeting called to order @ 7:10PM by Aaron Andrews
Officers In attendance- Aaron Andrews, Sadie Kroupa, Bart Mink, Sean O’Shea (acting), Paul Watson
Grist member Kyle Sherman acted as Master of Ceremonies. A quorum of 31 Grist Members were present.
Discussion of merchandise budget versus opt in merchandise store:
Kyle Sherman – Motion to reinstate allocation of budget to “swag” or “merch” items. Reminded that the previous year’s Grist dues being dropped from $100 to $50 were under the condition that an opt in merchandise store of sorts would be formalized by June 2019. That never came to fruition, so discussion brought forward to return to a yearly “Grist swag budget”. This motion stalled.
No other revisions to Club Charter discussed.
Officer Elections:
All Grist members who are able to run for an officer’s position were given time to make a short speech and then officers were voted on.
The Orange County Mashups 2020 Elected officers are hereby recorded as:
- Sadie Krupa – Club President
- Nick Herson – Vice President
- Bart Mink – Treasurer
- Cameron Kurth – Competitions Officer
- Paul Watson – Education Officer
- Sean O’Shea – Communications Officer
General Discussion:
The floor was then opened to open discussion.
- Mark Tillman – addressing tasting feedback processes during open club meetings
- Request: make feedback form more akin to BJCP score sheets
- Relevant Commentary:
- Kyle Sherman – Current Google form solution was designed to be simple, accessible, and relatively quick
- Scott Graham – Over the last 2 years, feedback being returned to brewers is inconsistent. Sometimes feedback is sent out way too late or not at all
- Rene Rodarte (variations/support from others) – would be compelling to have 2 or 3 beers each meeting self-nominated as “critical discussion” entries, where more in depth tasting notes are performed by Provisional BJCP or BJCP trained members of the Club.
- Tasha Flynn – Critical discussion in an open and deanonymized environment may make some uncomfortable, making it not a suitable way for them to seek feedback on their beer.
- Nick Herson – gauging interest in appointing a club “historian”
- Request: choose someone who can come to most meetings and events to take pictures, keep them all centrally located and accessible, and maintain a site blog documenting gatherings.
- No relevant followup discussion
Meeting adjourned @ 7:50PM by Aaron Andrews
